Tips for rollers

What to wear

A waterproof jacket is advisable, you are likely to get dirty and damp. Some old jeans and/or overtrousers are also a good idea, unless you enjoy spending your evenings scrubbing grass/mud/unrecognizable stains out of your fabrics. Oh, and ladies, I speak from personal experience when I add that any chest protection is a bonus. You could be in for a bumpy ride.

What to avoid

Cow pats, mainly, although thistles are also a likelihood in the average rolling location. It all depends on where you roll, of course, and if there is a busy road at the bottom of the hill, then I'd watch out for juggernauts too.

How to get some momentum

Shove off.

Alternatively, take Franky's advice: "When you want to spin faster place your hands on your head, and just let yourself roll and roll, keep the body straight."

After-effects to expect

Temporary dizziness, less temporary muddiness, attraction of bemused stares from passers-by.
